As a vice president on the Seed Team, Travis sources, invests in, and supports high-performing early-stage charter school leaders and organizations. Prior to joining CSGF, he was the director of growth & expansion at New Classrooms Innovation Partners—a non-profit organization that develops innovative learning models that combine the talent of teachers with technology to personalize the classroom experience for every student, every day. There, he led the organization’s partnership efforts by opening and growing markets throughout the country including NYC/NJ, Tulsa, Chattanooga, Charlotte, Atlanta, and Miami. Prior to New Classrooms, Travis worked for the City of Philadelphia as deputy education officer to Mayor Michael A. Nutter. In this role, he advised the mayor and city leadership on policies and initiatives to improve student outcomes across multiple school sectors. Before his work in education and public service, Travis was an associate at Merrill Lynch and an actuarial analyst at Mercer Human Resource Consulting. He received his BA from Howard University and an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business.
